Art For Sale Poppy Painting in Oil on Plastic Paper

Sunflowers and Poppies are my favourite paintings and are embellished with pure and rich colourful brush strokes. They allow great use of colour and freedom of expression in oil paintings. They bring wonderful abstract colours to the canvas and are the perfect antidote to our grey winters and cloudy days. After spending my winter in India or Asia I return back to the UK for the summer and love to paint in a loose and free style the poppies and sunflowers in the fields of North Devon. While Poppies are quite common in set aside fields and organic grain fields, sunflowers are a little harder to find. They can often be found as ground cover and food for pheasants in remoter areas of the county. This year I had part of the fields around the studio planted with sunflowers to inspire the paintings and next year this will form a series of paintings at the studio.
