Meribel Village & Meribel Motaret in the French Alps has long been an inspiration to Pete Caswell’s Art and Paitings which are sold worldwide. The snow energy and atmosphere of Meribel, the mountains, valleys and dazzling light all combine to provided an electric atmosphere which super charges the body sucking it into the mountains through the exhilarating sports of skiing & snowboarding. The freedom of motion and ease of movement on the slopes, lit up by jumps and high speed turns make Meribel a mecca for thrill seekers. For an artist this is paradise, so much energy to inspire and charge the paintings and fill the gallery with excitement. After many years international artist Pete Caswell has drawn his popular colours and vibrant style together to form a series of challenging paintings representing the high energy of the Alps. For many years I have sketched the Alps to try to solve the puzzle. The air is filled with excitement, the mountains are powerful and lift the spirits beyond limits and danger is all around. The spirit of the area is palpable and all absorbing and the vistas of the Alps are of a large and powerful scale. Yet the colour scheme of the winter snowland is cool blues grays and whites which in combination create cold, cool and static paintings. These vistas and views in these cool and low contrast colours dull and mute the scenes which are pictorially correct but do not recreate the high energy of the atmosphere. To capture the scene I have drawn many techniques together to form the art gallery collection of Meribel 1450 ski paintings of partial representation, abstract construction and energy paintings. Choosing high contrast and energetic colours I have drawn energy and excitement into the scene. By combining partial representation of scenes and abstract construction of the scene the paintings draws heavily on your memories of Meribel skiing and the Alps to subconsciously represent the energy energy of the scene and stimulate recollection of the feelings of being, skiing and snowboarding in the Apls. Many of the paintings and art have been inspired by skiing and snowboarding in Tignes, Val D’Isere, Courchevel 1850 Meribel and Courchevel 1650. The start of the collection in the viewer are mainly based around the top runs in Tignes & Val d’Isere. The later half of the collection in the viewer are from Courchevel & Meribel of tree line off piste skiing and snowboarding and the top runs inbetween Courchevel & Meribel. See the Ski Painting in the VIEWER The visual clues have been drawn from many of the scenes around the Courchevel, Meribel, Tignes and Val d’isere ski area. Due to their abstract nature these paintings also represent many other skiing & snowboarding areas in the Alps and would make a suitable gift for any skier, snowboarder whose passion is skiing, snowboarding and being in the atmosphere of the Alps. Inspiration and images have also been drawn from Val d’Isere, Courchevel, Les Arcs, Val Thorens, Chamonix, Meribel and Verbier. This new seasons art & paintings are so gorgeous, inspired by a fabulous winter trip I spent in Courchevel 1850 & Meribel which was a real dream with fresh powder snow and just endless fresh powder skiing in the trees lower down and then on to the Salure cable car to take advantage of the off piste from Vizelle at the top of the mountain. There is a wonderful flow and movement from this seasons paintings with a dynamic colour scheme to bring life and energy to your eyes. Love it, I do! |
