Stunning Contemporary Oil Paintings of landscapes and abstracts from Central India near Poona and Colourful Beach scenes of Indian Beach Life from Goa. Pete Caswell has been photographing and painting India for 20 years. His current exhibition is based on the beautiful scenery around the estate of the Indian spiritual master Meher Baba. Some of the stunning paintings are part of a large series of portraits of this fascinating character who gave up taking in his early years. The facial expressions he used to communicate and the various sign language techniques provide an interesting set of enlightening paintings. Much of the other work is based upon the stunning colourful landscape and buildings making up this beautiful part of the Indian countryside
Meher Baba stopped speaking voluntarily in his early years and chose to communicate by a variety of visual methods which were all expressed powerfully in his face as well as rapid hand gestures. These amazing expressions of this incredible man provide a never ending source of inspiration for the artist and have proved very popular in ad hoc exhibitions around India.
